Razan Ashraf Abdul Qadir al-Najjar
The Razan Al-Najjar Collective is an organisation established with the aim of defending the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. We unconditionally support Palestinian resistance and its direct struggle against Zionism and imperialism in all their forms and tactics. Founded by militants and activists who recognise the inseparability of the Palestinian cause from the global anti-capitalist and anti-fascist struggle, the Collective takes its name from Razan Al-Najjar, a young Palestinian paramedic who, in 2018, lost her life while providing aid to the wounded during the “Great March of Return” protests in Gaza. Her sacrifice, in attempting to save lives amidst a brutal conflict, became a symbol of resistance, courage, and humanity — values that the Collective carries forward in its mission.
Razan Al-Najjar, a figure admired across the world, was shot dead by Israeli forces while serving as a volunteer. Her work, carried out in a region marked by constant violence, revealed not only the dedication of a young woman to human rights but also her commitment to justice and dignity in the face of overwhelming adversity. The Razan Al-Najjar Collective honours her memory and continues her legacy by striving for peace, justice, and the dismantling of the Zionist state, military occupations, and violations of human rights.
The Collective is a movement for the sovereignty and self-determination of the Palestinian people, bringing together individuals and organisations with an anti-imperialist purpose, fighting against the violations and injustices suffered by this people. Through this digital platform, collaborations with the academic community, awareness-raising actions, events, campaigns, and support for humanitarian initiatives, the Collective seeks to be an active voice in the promotion of the fundamental rights of all peoples, especially where colonialism wreaks devastation. We are committed to building bonds of solidarity among peoples, pursuing the right to existence, sovereignty, freedom, and self-determination, free from supremacist interferences that dismantle and erase diverse cultures.
In addition to serving as a memorial to the life and legacy of Razan Al-Najjar, the Razan Al-Najjar Collective is also dedicated to empowering new generations of activists and human rights defenders. Through education and training, we aim to expand critical awareness of the political and social realities of Palestine, highlighting the impact of occupation and violence on communities, and, above all, the violence and genocide inflicted upon Palestinian children. In our efforts, we emphasise the importance of humanitarian work and the defence of life above all else.
The struggle for freedom, justice, and human dignity knows no borders. The Razan Al-Najjar Collective is an inclusive space that welcomes all those who identify with the Palestinian cause and the cause of human rights more broadly. We are united by the conviction that, just as Razan Al-Najjar demonstrated, each act of solidarity and resistance builds a path towards liberation. Our mission, therefore, is to follow in Razan’s footsteps, inspiring action, resistance, and hope for all who face oppression and injustice.
