Greta Thunberg, the young woman the world knew as a tireless defender of the environment, has taken an even braver step in the arena of universal struggles: she has become a staunch defender of the Palestinian cause.

With just a few years between her first student protest in front of the Swedish Parliament and her current political commitment, Greta has demonstrated that moral coherence knows no boundaries. If yesterday she stood up to the governments and corporations that destroy the Earth, today she stands up to the Zionist regime that destroys lives, homes, and hopes in Palestine.

The price of that solidarity has been high. The Zionist army, unable to tolerate the voice of a young woman with ethical authority, has publicly humiliated her, dragging her by the hair and forcing her to kiss the flag of the occupation. But neither violence nor intimidation has managed to break her: Greta remains steadfast, raising a clear voice in defense of a besieged and massacred people.

This episode lays bare the essence of colonial power: fear of example, fury against anyone who dares to expose injustice. And yet, the image of Greta, physically vulnerable but indomitable in spirit, becomes an even more powerful symbol. She represents the global youth who are unwilling to accept either the genocide in Palestine or the destruction of the planet.

Her gesture of solidarity reaches far beyond the borders of Gaza and the West Bank. Greta reminds us that the struggle for Palestine is also the struggle for a more just, more humane, and more dignified world. That it is not just about defending an occupied land, but about defending the very essence of human rights and life.

From UPAL, we salute Greta Thunberg and reaffirm that her example strengthens global awareness. Palestine is not alone, and there are a growing number of voices, like yours, that refuse to remain silent in the face of genocide. Because supporting Palestine is not a political option, it is a moral duty.
