When Reality Is Omitted or Only Partially Told
It is becoming increasingly evident that, in what is commonly called the West, we are presented with news that often omits certain facts, almost always reinforces the dominant narrative, while inconvenient occurrences are distorted or downplayed. We have seen this in reports on the wars involving Ukraine and Russia, Israel and the Palestinian people, or Iran, and even in seemingly simple domestic news stories.
After All, Who Is Pulling the Strings?
This is a question often asked—and one that frequently remains unanswered.
To discuss this subject, the diplomat Cláudia Assaf will join the Tribuna Multipolar channel, with journalist Francisco Balsinha as host.
Cláudia Assaf is a career diplomat, holding a master’s degree in Diplomacy from the Rio Branco Institute and undergraduate degrees in Mathematics from UFRJ and in International Relations. She is currently serving as Minister-Counsellor (Deputy Head of Mission) at the Embassy of Brazil in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
She has previously served in bilateral postings at the Embassies of Brazil in Doha, State of Qatar (2008–2012); Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2014–2017); Kuwait City, State of Kuwait (2018–2021); and Muscat, Sultanate of Oman (2021–2024).
In a multilateral capacity, she also served at the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the United Nations in New York (2012–2014), where she represented Brazil’s interests on issues within the agenda of the UN General Assembly’s Second Committee.
This programme is especially dedicated to the communities of Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste, as well as to all Portuguese speakers around the world.
