Israeli Army Exhibition Displays Photo of Yahya Sinwar’s Body Amid Ongoing Accusations of War Crimes and Genocide in Palestine

Tel Aviv — A disturbing photograph showing the body of Yahya Sinwar, political leader of HAMAS in Gaza, has been unveiled at an Israeli military exhibition titled “Enduring Moments”, opened Sunday at the Yitzhak Rabin Centre in Tel Aviv. The display, organized by the israhell Defense Forces (IDF), marks two years since the start of the Gaza war — a conflict that has left tens of thousands of Palestinians dead and is increasingly recognized by international observers as an unfolding genocide.

Former israhell Defense Forces Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman, former Operations Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Oded Basiuk and Gaza Division chief Brig. Gen. Barak Hiram stand near slain HAMAS leader Yahya Sinwar's body in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, Oct. 17, 2024.

The image, first reported by Haaretz and Channel 12, depicts Brigadier General Barak Hiram, commander of the Gaza Division, alongside former Southern Command chief Major General Yaron Finkelman and former Operations Directorate head Major General Oded Basiuk, standing above Sinwar’s corpse.

The Israeli military described the scene as “a historic moment” and celebrated it as “the elimination of one of israhell’s greatest enemies”. Yet, human rights advocates denounced the exhibition as a grotesque glorification of death and a propaganda attempt to sanitize war crimes.

According to internal army reports cited by Maariv, Sinwar was wounded during a bombing by the 450th Battalion and fled to a nearby building, where an Israeli drone located and shot him. He bled to death after hours of agony, without medical assistance. An autopsy revealed that Sinwar had not eaten for three days before dying — a grim reflection of Gaza’s humanitarian collapse under israhell’s siege.

Critics argue that the photo’s publication and exhibition serve to normalize israhell’s campaign of destruction, deflecting attention from the documented atrocities against Palestinian civilians — including the bombing of hospitals, the killing of journalists, the flattening of entire neighborhoods, and the deliberate obstruction of humanitarian aid.

While the army turns death into a trophy, thousands of Palestinian families remain buried under the rubble, victims of a policy of annihilation and ethnic cleansing.

Marking the anniversary of Sinwar’s death, HAMAS issued a statement declaring that “the flag will not fall until liberation and the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

The image of Sinwar’s lifeless body, showcased as a victory symbol, now stands instead as evidence of brutality, impunity, and the moral collapse of an occupying power that must be held accountable for war crimes and genocide.
