Our work is not done! The BDS movement calls on our millions of supporters worldwide to escalate pressure to end Israel’s genocide and its decades-old regime of settler-colonialism, apartheid, and illegal occupation.
The BDS movement welcomes, with immense relief, the news that a ceasefire agreement has been reached. A ceasefire, however, is only the most important first step to end the genocide against the 2.3 million Palestinians in the illegally occupied and besieged Gaza Strip. Without massive pressure, this will constitute a continuation of a less visible form of genocide that Israel and the US hope will provoke less regional and global outrage, boycotts and sanctions. The famine, the repercussions of the annihilation of Gaza will not end. An end to the occupation, apartheid, and denial of our refugees’ rights have yet to be won. Solidarity is more needed than ever, and it begins with ending complicity and serious accountability–both moral and legal obligations.
The tide has turned and there must be no going back. Make no mistake, our people power is precisely what has brought us here. The recent wave of sanctions, from Spain to Türkyie, from Malaysia to Colombia, from Slovenia to Antigua and Barbuda, and many more, have been reached because of your pressure on your governments. Israel is more globally isolated than ever before, as even its internationally-wanted Prime Minister has recently admitted. This ceasefire must be understood as his desperate attempt to save genocidal Israel from this isolation, while allowing it to save its 77-year-old regime of settler-colonial oppression.
As a crucial part of Palestinian popular resistance and the most effective form of international solidarity with our pursuit of freedom, justice and equality, the BDS movement salutes the millions of global supporters who continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle to end the genocide and underlying apartheid.
We have collectively channelled our immense grief and rage into principled and strategic pressure to end international state, corporate and institutional complicity in Israel’s regime of colonial oppression. Your marching, picketing, boycotting, blockading, and occupying, among diverse and creative forms of solidarity, have directly pressured those in the halls of power and contributed to making them accede to this ceasefire. However, our work is not done.
We must keep on going no matter what – struggling, reflecting, defending hope despite the pain, falling, standing up again, modifying the path, resuming the struggle, and ultimately winning our complete liberation, justice, and the right of return and reparations for our people!
Now more than ever, we need more BDS pressure to ensure a real end to the genocide and full accountability for Israel’s war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. All of Israel’s partners in crime must also be held accountable.
We call on you to build on this momentum, peacefully disrupt business-as-usual, and challenge every government, corporation and institution complicit in Israel’s crimes. Now is the time to escalate and peacefully disrupt complicity for Palestine, for humanity! Intensify BDS efforts now more than ever to isolate genocidal Israel and its complicit corporations and institutions on every front. Our united efforts are bringing us closer to the dawn—let’s make it rise.
