Hamas leader Badran stresses the need to compel the occupation to implement the terms of the first phase before discussing the second phase.
Hamas Political Bureau member Husam Badran rejected statements by Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, who claimed that the “yellow line represents the new borders of Gaza.”
In a press statement on Tuesday, Badran asserted that these statements clearly reveal the occupation’s failure to adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
Badran added that various parties monitoring the Palestinian situation agree that the occupation has not fulfilled any of its obligations under the first phase of the agreement.
The Political Bureau member explained that the occupation continues to close the Rafah crossing in both directions, obstructs the entry of tents and caravans intended to shelter displaced persons, and significantly reduces the amount of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip, in addition to continuing its killings in Gaza.
He emphasized that the occupation’s continued demolition of Palestinian homes within the yellow line represents a continuation of the military operations that were supposed to have ceased from the first day of the agreement, stressing that these violations have continued unabated.
Badran said: “Any discussion about the second phase must be preceded by clear pressure on the occupation by the mediators, the United States, and all concerned parties, to ensure the full implementation of all the provisions of the first phase,” stressing that the second phase cannot begin as long as the occupation continues to violate the agreement and renege on its commitments.
