The armed wing of Hamas says Israel failed to release its hostages through military pressure despite having information and power superiority.
“The enemy failed to recover its hostages through military pressure, despite the superiority of information and power at its disposal, and now it recovers them by accepting a prisoner exchange agreement – as the Resistance had promised from the beginning,” the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement HAMAS, announced on Monday. in a statement.
The announcement comes after the al-Qassam Brigades handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) seven of the 20 Israeli prisoners alive who will be released under a ceasefire agreement signed with Israel. The Israeli regime, in return, will release about 2000 Palestinian prisoners today.
The armed wing of Hamas has said that the swap agreement “is the result of the resistance of the Palestinian people and the perseverance of the Resistance fighters”, assuring that HAMAS will comply with the agreement reached and the associated deadlines as long as the occupying regime also respects it.
He has blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s extremist cabinet for prolonging the genocidal war in Gaza to suit its own political interests and destroy all efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire.
“The Resistance has always sought to stop the war of genocide and has been striving for this goal since the first months [of the conflict that began in October 2023]; but the enemy thwarted all attempts because of his limited considerations and to satiate his Nazi government’s drive for savagery and revenge,” the note reads.
Al-Qassam said Israel “could have recovered most of its hostages alive months ago, but it continued with procrastination and stubbornness, preferring that its army, through the failed policy of military pressure, kill dozens of people.”
He concluded by reiterating his commitment to continue the resistance until all Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails are released.
The ceasefire agreement, presented by US President Donald Trump, provides for the release of Israeli prisoners, the gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip and the entry of humanitarian aid to areas affected by the conflict.
Trump and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, are expected to co-chair a summit in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday afternoon to sign an end to the war in Gaza that has left more than 67,000 Palestinians dead.
