UN Photo/Loey Felipe - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel addresses the general debate of the General Assembly’s seventy-ninth session.
From the rostrum of the United Nations General Assembly, Benjamin Netanyahu once again did what he does best: lie, manipulate, and distort history in order to justify one of the greatest injustices of the modern era: the occupation of historic Palestine and the dispossession of its people. This time he resorted to the most overused and dangerous resource: mixing religion with politics, invoking Moses and biblical stories to cover a bloody colonial project with a false halo of sanctity.
But the truth cannot be erased with theatrical speeches. Netanyahu and Zionism as a whole have been hijacking the Jewish religion for decades to turn it into a political instrument at the service of colonization. The faith of millions of Jews around the world deserves respect as a spiritual tradition, not as an excuse for apartheid and dispossession. What Netanyahu will never say is that the majority of Jews living in Israel today are not direct descendants of the ancient Hebrews, but largely of the Khazars, a people of Turkic origin who adopted Judaism in the 8th century. This historical truth alone debunks the fallacy of the “historical right” that Zionist leaders repeat as dogma.
Netanyahu’s speech at the UN is nothing new: it’s the same old litany. Genocide is covered up with religion, apartheid is disguised with biblical promises, and colonialism is disguised with emotional narratives. But no manipulation can hide the essential point: Palestine existed, exists, and will continue to exist as the living homeland of a people with an identity, history, and millennia-long roots.
We firmly state that Netanyahu does not represent the Jewish religion or its values, but rather a racist and colonial political project that has made Palestinian suffering its raison d’être. Using the Bible as a propaganda weapon is a crime not only against the Palestinian people, but also against the Jewish faith, which has been distorted and hijacked to justify the occupation.
The world must understand that Netanyahu’s words at the UN are nothing more than an alibi to perpetuate war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid. Palestine is not a myth or an allegory; it is a land with a real people who resist day after day one of the most brutal colonial systems of our time.
Therefore, we denounce it clearly: Netanyahu’s lies are part of a propaganda machine designed to prolong the occupation. But history is relentless, and in the end, it will be the Palestinian people, with their resistance, memory, and rights, who will write the outcome. And that outcome will be freedom, justice, and the end of Zionist colonialism.
